PURPOSE:To remarkably increase the safety of a running rope and its quality assurance property by providing a stainless steel wire rope remarkably excellent in corrosion resistance as well as in fatigue life and capable of prolonging service life. CONSTITUTION:This wire is a dual phase stainless steel wire which has a composition consisting of =0.1% C, =1.0% Sr, =1.5% Mn, =0.04% P, =0.03% S, 18.0-30.0% Cr, 3.0-8.0% Ni, 0.1-3.0% Mo, and the balance Fe and where the amount of ferrite is regulated to 30.0-80.0%. The average length-width ratio (M value) of this wire is controlled to 4-20 by controlling wire drawing draft to 40-97%, and further, ageing treatment is applied at 150-600 deg.C. By this method, the dual phase stainless steel wire rope having high fatigue resistance and corrosion resistance can be formed.
