PURPOSE: To enable generating radiation light having an arbitrary polarization characteristic by arranging two series of magnet so as to position only above or below an electron orbit plane and changing the upper and lower magnet interval and the position relation of two series of magnet toward the axial direction of a magnetic circuit. ;CONSTITUTION: A magnetic circuit 4 is consisting of four magnet rows (a) to (d) and in each row in odd number, magnets 10 with inclination of the magnetized direction to the axial direction of the magnetic circuit and in each row in even number, magnets 12 parallel magnetized direction to the axial direction of the magnetic circuit, are lined by turns to make a period with four rows. The magnets 10 have four kinds of magnetic direction and the magnets 12 have two kinds of magnetic direction. The arrangement of the magnets pairs (a) and (b), and (b) and (c) are constituted to generate periodic magnetic field. As electrons pass on the center axis (z axis) and by changing the position relation D of the two series of magnet rows, electrons draw a spiral orbit or a winding orbit in a plane and thus high luminescence circular polarization, eliptic polarization, vertical linear polarization and horizontal linear polarization can be generated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
