PURPOSE: To transplant seedlings with high accuracy by controlling the detecting posture of a ground contact float for detecting the height of the paddy field so as to prevent maldetection in related to elevation control of the planting unit of a riding rice transplanter. ;CONSTITUTION: This planting unit elevation controller is designed as follows: A rice transplanter is set through an elevation operation mechanism 6 actuated by a hydraulic unit 8 to a riding car body 1 at the rear part and a ground contact float 17 capable of rotating the front part making the rear part a support is attached to the machine frame of the rice transplanter 9. This machine is equipped with a hydraulic switch valve 26 mechanism of the hydraulic unit 8 so as to elevate the rice transplanter 9 if the distance between the front part of the ground contact float 17 and the machine frame is narrower than a prescribed range and to lower the rice transplanter 9 if the distance is wider than the prescribed range on the contrary. Thereby, the distance is controlled within the prescribed range. A detector 29 for detecting the longitudinal inclination posture of the float 17 is set on the float side and this detector 29 is controlled while being linked to a switch drive unit 22 for forcibly driving the switch operation member of the hydraulic switch valve 26 so that the ground contact float itself may be kept within a range of the standard posture.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
