PURPOSE: To obtain an oil-free linear motor compressor that can be operated at high reliability without using oil and externally tuned resonant balancers, and allows unattended and continuous operation without maintenance over extended periods of time. ;CONSTITUTION: An oil-free linear motor compressor 2 has stator means 4, and inner core means 42 substantially disposed within the stator means. The compressor further comprises drive coil means reciprocating oppositely towards an axial direction and substantially disposed between the stator means and the inner core means such that it contains at least two drive coils 34a and 34b reciprocating at 180-degree offset from each other; and compressor driving means disposed adjacently to the inner core means and attached to the drive coil means.
