PURPOSE:To improve face accuracy and shape accuracy of molded article and to better durability of assembly of forming mold. CONSTITUTION:A glass compression molding machine has one core, a hollow barrel mold 26 arranged accessibly and separably to the core and the other core which is slid in the barrel mold 26 and forms a cavity 4 between one core and the other core. A locking device to generate fastening force between one core and the barrel mold 26 is arranged and a compressing device to generate compressing force between one core and the other core is installed. When the mold is closed, one core is dropped, brought into the barrel mold 26 and locked. When the mold is heated and compressed, the other core is raised while one core is in contact with the barrel mold 26. Since the locking force is received by one core and the barrel mold 26, locking force will be applied neither to preform 5 nor to the other core.
