PURPOSE: To make stable control by using a means to exclude external turbulence factors detrimental for judgement, wherein judgement is made for the optimum control start point in association with the rise of the signal value of the road surface friction force or the road surface friction factor given by a road surface friction force sensing device or a road surface friction factor sensing device. ;CONSTITUTION: When an emergency brake is applied to a car equipped with an anti-lock brake system, the change in the road surface friction force F or road surface friction factor μ due to the increase of the brake pressure is sensed by a road surface friction force sensing device or road surface friction factor sensing device 1. In this anti-lock brake system, the optimum control start point in association with the rise of the signal value of the F or μ given by the respective sensing devices 1 is judged by seizing the wheel speed drop due to braking by the specified value of wheel speed W for the purpose of excluding the external turbulence factors detrimental to the judgement.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
