PURPOSE: To apply OTDR(optical time-domain reflectometry) to an optical transmission system equipped with an optoisolator, relating to an optoisolator and a light amplifier eqipped with the optoisolator and a dope-fiber. ;CONSTITUTION: An optoisolator comprises a first polarizer 1, a Faraday rotor 2 for directing the polarization of transmitted light in a certain direction regardless of the direction of transmission, a polarizing element 3 for directing the polarization of the transmitted light in a direction of rotation corresponding to the direction of transmission, and a second polarizer 4, all of which are arranged in that order; the wavelength dependency of the angle of rotation of the Faraday rotor 2 and that of the polarizing element 3 in the direction of polarization is properly set.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
