PURPOSE: To prevent an engine from overheating beforehand by lowering the speed of or stopping the engine and giving alarm on failure at fault of a cooling water pump. ;CONSTITUTION: When the number of signals NP1 generated for each rotation of a crankshaft by a wheel pick-up coil 12 and the number of signals NP2 generated for each rotation of the crankshaft by a pump pick-up coil 15 are in the relation of NP2≠n.NP1, a control unit 10 judges that any damage has occurred on a blade of an impeller 19. Then deletion of ignition/adjustment of ignition timing are made by an ignition circuit 34 to lower the speed of or stop an engine, and a warning LED16 and a warning buzzer 17 are driven by an alarm output circuit 35 to notify failure of a cooling water pump 4 of a ship operator.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
