PURPOSE: To add rare earth elements to a molten alloy extremely safely in a high yield by coating an alloy wire consisting of rare earth elements and Al with a carbon steel and then inserting the wire into a molten Fe-Cr-Al alloy. ;CONSTITUTION: The wire or rod of alloy consisting of one or ≥2 kinds among rare earth elements (Sc, Y, and lanthanoide series elements) and Al (for which the content of rare earth elements is about 1-9 atomic% to Al content) is coated with carbon steel or stainless steel. The alloy wire or rod is inserted into a molten Fe-Cr-Al alloy to add the rare earth elements to the molten metal. By this method, the rare earth elements can be added extremely safely to the molten Fe-Cr-Al alloy without causing the scattering and the deterioration of slag in a high addition yield.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
