PURPOSE: To obtain a thin-film interference filter which allows the transmission of visible light, simultaneously reflects IR rays and has durability by providing this filter with a substrate, a dielectric layer adhered thereon and a metallic layer and dielectric layer adhered thereon. ;CONSTITUTION: The transparent substrate 2 have two flat surfaces 4, 6, of which the surface 4 is exposed to a medium and the surface 6 is coated. The first dielectric layer 8 consisting of a material having a refractive index from about 2.0 to 2.7 is adhered onto the flat surface 6 of the substrate 2. Next, the first metallic precoating layer 10 is adhered onto the first dielectric layer 8 and, further, the partially reflective metallic layer 12 is adhered thereon. The second metallic precoating layer 14 is then adhered onto the partially reflective metallic layer 12 and, further, the final dielectric layer 16 is adhered thereon. The first dielectric layer 8 consists of titanium oxide, silicon nitride, etc., and the second dielectric layer 16 consists of silicon nitride, zirconium nitride, etc. Both metallic precoating layers 10, 14 consist of nickel, chromium, etc.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
