PURPOSE: To form a coating film improved in adhesive strength to a metal base and a coating material and excellent in rust preventive ability by blending the specific quantity of a fluorine compound, glycolic acid, citric acid, formic acid, etc., and a lubricant with a tannic acid aq. solution. ;CONSTITUTION: A treating agent for preventing rust is prepared by blending 0.5-2.5% fluorine compound expressed in terms of fluorine conc., 4-10% one or more kinds of a carboxyl group incorporating compounds selected from glycolic acid, citric acid acetic acid, lactic acid, gluconic acid, malic acid, glutaric acid and their salts and 0.2-0.5% lubricant with the aq. solution containing 15-25wt.% tannic acid. Hydrofluoric acid, ammonium hydrogen fluoride, potassium hydrogen fluoride, etc., are used as the fluorine compound. The treating agent for preventing rust is capable of effectively dissolving rust only by applying the surface of iron steel on which rust is generated and converting it to a rust preventive coating film composed mainly of chemically stable iron tanate to form a rust preventive film excellent in adhesive strength to the material base and coating material.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
