PURPOSE:To raise thermostability of strain, by producing beta-galactosidase having specific optimum action temperature and optimum action pH, not lowering enzymatic activity by 50mmol galactose and glucose. CONSTITUTION:A beta-galactosidase is synthesized by a novel strain belonging the genus Thermus, having 75-85 deg.C optimum action temperature and optimum pH 4.5-6.5, substantially not lowering enzymatic activity by 50mmol galactose and glucose, capable of producing novel beta-galactosidase. The novel strain has the following mycological properties. Shape: bacillus. Size: 0.4-0.6X2-7mum. Agar flat medium is circular, irregular in the periphery, rising or flat, light yellow - orange. Agar slant medium is smooth, light yellow - orange. Not changing litmus milk, etc.
