A process for effecting improved pulp-or paperforming or paper-recycling processes or a combination thereof, which comprises contacting paper-, pulp- or a precursor thereof with at least one wood-reactive enzyme during the pulp- or paper- forming process with a noble gas, mixture of noble gases, or gas mixture containing at least one noble gas.
