Benzoylguanidines of the formula IMAGE in which: R(1) is R(4)R(5)N-C(X)-, with X being O, S or N-R(6), R(4) and R(5) being H or alk(en)yl(-R(7)), R(7) being cycloalkyl or phenyl, or R(4) and R(5) together being 4 or 5 methylene groups, and R(6) being as R(4) or being amidine, R(2) is H, Hal, (cyclo(alk)en)(yn)yl(alkyl), phenyl(alkyl), aromatic, heterocycle or -W-R(8), with W being oxygen, S, NR(9) or 8 R(3): is H, Hal, alkyl or -X-R(8) as for R(2), are described, as are the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
