SENSOR FOR MEASUREMENT OF ENZYME HYDROGENETABLE/DEHYDROGENETABLE CHEMICAL SPECIES IN AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS

An electrode is provided for a consumable measuring device in a clinical chemical analyser for the amperometric determination of the level of a body fluid, for a chemical species susceptible to dehydro-genation in the presence of a dehydrogenase enzyme. The electrode has a coating that includes the dehydrogenase enzyme, a poly-merized hyperfluorosulfonic acid, methylene blue and a co-factor of the group comprised of NAD and NADP. In a preferable synthesis expression, the coating also includes a water soluble resinous polymer and an improved water emulsion binder. In another synthesis expression, a sensor (measuring device) is used to measure a hydrogenated chemical species, in which case the cofactor is in hydrogenated form. In a further synthesis expression, the sensor is used to measure a dehydrogenase enzyme, where the enzyme is omitted from the coating and is substituted by dehydrogenated chemical species.
