Recovery of molybdenum and vanadium in a substantially pure state, in spent catalysts. It is characterised by a sequence of stages comprising especially leaching of the molybdate and vanadate, adsorption on an ion exchange resin and selective elution to recover the molybdenum and the vanadium separately.
