Packaging laminate for container with good light barrier properties - has inner layer of porous polystyrene and outer layers of extruded polystyrene

The laminate has an inner layer (11) of porous expanded polystyrene, and outer layers (12, 13) of compact extruded polystyrene. As a light barrier, fine particle material, e.g. carbon black, is mixed in with the porous plastics layer (11), with the property of reflecting light. The use of carbon black enhances the seal characteristic of the laminate and improves its esthetic appearance, even when only 0.01 percent of the laminate total wt. is constituted by the carbon black.
