This relates to a spherical joint which is capable of being immobilized by heat for use in orthopaedic surgery and in other special medical applications. Essentially this joint comprises an elongated body with a spherical area provided with two bases from which there extend respectively a cylindrical socket and a truncated tapering appendage. The latter is inserted in a tubular member whose end portion is structured so as to constitute a seat to house and secure the aforesaid spherical part. This tubular member is closed at the other end by another cylindrical socket and encloses a suitable resin which can be hardened through the action of heat. IMAGE
