Pyruvate kinase (ATP : pyruvate 2-0-phosphotransferase, EC 2.7.1.40) isoenzyme type M2 (tumour M2-PK) can be determined qualitatively, quantitatively and locally by means of antibodies in blood, plasma, tissue cultures and tissue sections as well as in the animal and human body. The corresponding antisera are obtained using high-purity pyruvate kinase isoenzyme type M2 (tumour-M2-PK) or fractions thereof as immunogen. Preferably, antisera with monoclonal antibodies are used. The antibodies can be used in ELISA test systems to diagnose cancer, and to determine the malignity of cells, as well as to localize tumours in the body and for cancer therapy.
