Copper-based alloys with shape memory effect are welded by diffusion welding with an intermediate ductile material under temp. and pressure conditions which favour the diffusive process. An alloy compsn. with low m.pt. is achieved which is later converted to a solid phase as a result of diffusion produced on increasing the temp. in the final stages of the process.
