GROWTH MEDIA FOR ENTOMOPHTHORALEAN HYPHAL BODIES

An improved growth medium is provided for the mass fermentation production of hyphal bodies competent to form conidia of representatives of the fungal order Entomophthorales, e.g., Entomophaga grylli, Entomophaga maimaiga, Entomophaga calopteni, and especially Entomophaga aulicae. The improvement resides in including, in addition to a basal medium, filter-sterilized tryptic soy broth and calcium caseinate which provides a total medium. This medium allows the use of a protoplast and/or a walled stage inoculum in a batch fermentation process.
