Topical pharmaceutical compositions effective in the treatment of insect bites and stings, in the forms of stick solids, creams, gels, lotions or sprays for dispensing single or multiple doses, having as active ingredient an organic or inorganic compound able to reduce the concentration of calcium, i.e. compounds that form either soluble or insoluble calcium complexes, such as one or more of the following acids: carbonic, hydrofluoric, tungstic, phosphoric, pyrophosphoric, DL-α-glycerophosphoric, phosphogluconic, phosphopiruvic, sulfuric, sulfamic, sulfobenzoic, oxalic, mesoxalic, oxalacetic, malonic, citric, succinic, glutaric, aspartic, malic, tartaric, iminodiacetic, ethylendiaminotetraacetic, α-amino-β-methyl-β-mercaptobutyric, fumaric, acetylglycerophosphoric, phthalic, α-ketoglutaric, glutamic, their derivates and their precursors such as anhydrides, lactones, lactides and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts.
