NESTIN EXPRESSION AS AN INDICATOR OF NEUROEPITHELIAL TUMORS

Describes a gene encoding a protein, nestin, the expression of which allows to distinguish nerve pluripotent stem cells and the brain tumor cells of the types of more differentiated nerve cells (e.g. neuronal cells, glial and muscle). Also described are methods for detecting nestin expression as a means to diagnose and treat brain tumors.
