It describes novel Bacillus thuringiensis isolates with activity against Hymenoptera. Also disclosed are such toxins having advantageous activity against Hymenoptera. The invention further relates to genes or gene fragments that were cloned from the new isolates of Bacillus thuringiensis which have a formicide activity. These genes or gene fragments can be used to transform suitable hosts to fight against the ants.
