Mould has cooling walls (6,6') which are interlinked so that the setting movement of the cooling walls (6,6') includes a swing movement of them. The division of the wall of the cooling system (2) is pref. through cooling wall plates (6,6') around the circumference of the cooling zone and/or in the direction of casting movement. The cooling walls (6,6') are interconnected by pivot links (9), or they are secured to a common flexible mantle on all sides. The swing movement of the cooling plates (6,6') can be on swing axes parallel and/or across the direction of casting travel. The cooling plates (6,6') swing against each other by a given angle of up to 10 deg. ADVANTAGE - The high speed casting gives an even cooling action, with tolerable wear rates, without the risk of fracture, to give an even crystal structure and reduced surface faults.
