PURPOSE:To improve accuracy in body assembly by positioning a body assembling device on a fixed data base, and mutually joining works after confirming mutual positional accuracy of the works. CONSTITUTION:A body panel is positioned by a work positioning device 11 on the result of measurement made by a body measuring device 12 at a relative position to satisfy a fixed assembly accuracy on a stage. The positioning device 11 has a frame 15, many robots 16 attached to the frame 15, and one or plural work receiving jigs 17 functioning as a hand part of the robot per robot 16, which has also a work clamping device 18 as its hand part in case of necessity. The works having been positioned are mutually lockingly joined, and a main body part to control accuracy in body assembly is then assembled.
