Pressure converter having a reciprocating primary piston (7) in a cylinder (6) with a first high pressure plunger (8), and arranged in parallel, a second cylinder with a second primary piston carrying a second high pressure plunger. Two suction valves (11) are subject to the hydraulic medium via a common pipe (13) and the pressure strokes of the two pistons are so asynchronously controllable that the maximum secondary pressure deliverable by one plunger at the start of a stroke has already been reached before the pressure delivered by the other plunger has decreased. USE/ADVANTAGE - Pressure converter for high pressure water installations having a uniform pressure curve without the need for a pulsation damper.
