µ-Aminonitrile and N-alkyl-1,3-propylenediamines and their use as fuel and lubricant additives

beta -Aminonitriles of the following formula I IMAGE in which R1 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having alkyl side groups and a molecular weight (number average) of from 250 to 5000 and R2, R3 and R4 independently of one another are hydrogen or a C1-C8-alkyl radical, and R2 or R4 can also be a phenyl radical, and alkylpropylenediamines prepared from the beta -aminonitriles by hydrogenation, and the use of these compounds as additives in motor fuels and lubricants.
