Pipe inner cladding - has base layer of cement and quartz sand with granular foam material and a thinner covering layer of cement and sand to reduce weight
The cement mortar mixt. of cement and quartz sand, together with 0.3-0.5 wt.% of a granular foam material, is used as a base layer (6) to clad the inner surfaces of pipes and shaped pieces. This is covered by a layer of cement mortar without additives (7). The mortar mixts. can be applied by pouring, centrifugal action, extruded and sprayed with a given jet cross section. The base layer is thicker, up to 50 mm, or 30-40 mm with a lighter material, and an outer cladding layer has max. 10 mm thickness. The mixt. reduces the cladded pipe weight by 37% compared with conventional claddings. The cast iron pipe (1), with a relatively thin wall, has a sleeve contour (2) at one end with a projecting collar (3) and a pointed end (4) of reduced dia. at the other end, and has a sealing ring (5). The interior is coated with a base layer (6) and a thinner covering layer (7). The base layer (6) contains a foam material, and the outer layer (7) has higher wear resistance. USE/ADVANTAGE - The cement mortar cladding is especially for metal pipes and shaped pieces for the carriage of water and sewage. The material gives a smooth and dense cladding to the inner surfaces, without greatly increasing the weight.
