PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of determining strength and layer thickness of an improved layer of back-filling sand by injecting and mixing a cement-based solidifying material that can prevent suck-out of the back-filling sand by forming the improved layer suitable for the construction field.;SOLUTION: The back-filling sand 5 to be improved is collected from the construction field. The addition amount C of the injected cement-based solidifying material per unit volume of the back-filling sand 5 is changed and mixed to manufacture an improved layer sample S under atmospheric pressure, and fluctuating water pressure P is applied to the improved layer sample S until it breaks under predetermined conditions while changing layer thickness h for every addition amount C of the cement-based solidifying material to acquire related data between the layer thickness h and the number of times N or time t until breaking. Strength q and layer thickness H(=h) of the improved layer 6 meeting conditions demanded in the construction field are selected based on both acquired related data.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
