In a new procedure for producing packages of equal weight from a sliced product, the product is moved through a slicing station (2) by a conveyor (1) and the slices are then stacked. The novel feature is that required package weight and the required thickness of the first slice in each package are fed into a computer (14), and each slice coming from the cutting station (20) is individually weighed (6) and this data is also fed into the computer. The thickness of the following slices is then adjusted continuously (18) in accordance with the weight of the slices already cut. USE/ADVANTAGE - For preparing packages of slices of e.g. meat products and especially sides of salmon. Packages of equal weight can be conveniently produced on an industrial scale.
