Prepn. of N,N'-bis-acyl-alkylene di:amine cpds. with uniform carbon chain - using tri:glyceride from new oil plant crop and alkylene di:amine using acid catalyst
N,N'-Bis-acylalkylene diamines (I) with uniform C chain are prepd. by reacting triglycerides from new oil plant crops, comprising new sunflower oil, new rape oil, spurge oil, coriander oil, marigold oil and/or lady's smoke oil, or hardened prods. from these, in presence of acid catalysts, with alkylene diamines of formula (I), where n = 2-10; and m and p = 0-5. N,N'-bis-acylethylene diamines of formula R1-CO-NH-CH2CH2-NH-CO-R1 are claimed, where R1CO = acyl residue from 12,13-epoxyoleic petroselinic or calendula acid. Reaction is at 150-220 deg.C and autogenous pressure of 2-5 bars, using a molar ratio of triglyceride:diamine of 2:1-1:2, and 0.05-2 wt.% of catalyst, w.r.t. the triglyceride. Pref. diamines are ethylene diamine and propylene diamine. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are used in prodn. of defoamers for the washing, textile and paper industries, and as lubricants and antistick agents in the field of synthetics, where the uniformity of the fatty acid chain is of importance. The prepn. of very pure-chain fatty acids is avoided.
