A carrier plate (1) is used as a mounting for integrated circuit elements (2), integrated switching elements (3) and discrete components (4). Heat energy generated by the switching circuit is dissipated by mounting it on the surface of a heat sink element (6) that penetrates through the housing (25). The heat sink element is cylindrical and of high conductivity metal. The diameter of the element is selected to provide an interference fit in the hole for good heat transfer. ADVANTAGE - Very effective heat removal by solderless, precise fixing of heat sink to underside of carrier plate.
