The material is fitted over the heap by a series of conveyors (2,3,4) and discharged via a series of spreading controls (5,6) which distribute the material into dropped material and that which is transferred to the next conveyor. Sensors monitor the changing shape of the heap and control the distribution accordingly. The programmed change in shape of the heap is related to the feed rate of the material and the various differences between actual feed rates and programmed rates, and actual heap height to programmed height. The finished heap requires a minimum of levelling for grassing etc. for long term storage. USE/ADVANTAGE - Storage of topsoil for opencast mining. Minimum of levelling required, controlled shape of heap.
