The gas compression plant (1) for a pipe supply in a compressor station, has gas delivered at pressure to the compression stage and then cooled through a heat exchanger. It is delivered at a lower temp. of max. 0 deg. C, and at a higher pressure to facilitate further transportation. At certain time intervals the gas is compressed to significantly higher pressures, overpressure, than the delivery pressure. The compression gas is cooled to a temp. above that of delivery, final cooling is achieved via the expansion of the gas to the required exit pressure.
