Expanding gear for band winder - uses ball thread drive with freewheel and slip clutch for easier expansion and security against automatic resetting

The cylindrical centre bore (9) of the main slider (5) is penetrated by a ball rolling spindle (10) of a ball thread drive (11) which is mounted rotatable directly or indirectly in bearings (14,15). A ball rolling nut (17) seated rotationally secured on the spindle in an inner recess (16) of the main slider transforms a rotation of the spindle into a longitudinal movement of the main slider. A freewheel (22) is attached on one side to the spindle so that the latter is secured against automatic rotation moving the tension jaws radially inwards. A slip clutch (24) is connected to the freewheel and its load holding movement can be lifted by operating the spindle in order to expand the expanding gear. USE/ADVANTAGE - The force applied to operate the expanding gear for a band winder is reduced, thereby avoiding expensive mechanical drives.
