The method concerns prodn. of sleeve-shaped, perforated or segmental alloy reinforcements to be cast into cylinder blocks or cylinders for piston engines, esp. internal combustion engines, where these reinforcements - which are covered with a wear resistant, intentionally porous coating - form part of the piston slide path. The reinforcements are provided with a coating of a hard substance applied by means of a heat treatment process. USE/ADVANTAGE - In the motor industry. Coatings with sufficient wear resistance and good tribiological properties are produced cost-effectively.
