High-resolution determination of time separation of machine parameter signals - using common base frequency to which all sensor signals and reference values are referred for discrimination by pulse counters
High-resolution determination of time separation of machine parameter signals - using common base frequency to which all sensor signals and reference values are referred for discrimination by pulse counters
The high resolution method determines the time intervals between the digital signals obtained from a sensor (G) measuring the value of a machine parameter e.g. shaft rotation, traverse, etc. A reference signal (R) is used to relate each signal to a common base frequency (B) produced by a pulse generator (1). The pulse generator (1) frequency (T) is subdivided (5) to form a suitable reference signal repetition rate (R) and both this and the converted (11) sensor signals (W) are stored separately (3,4) in units of the common frequency (B) registered by the pulse counters (2,9). The data so obtained are stored (7) in terms of phase difference i.e. the time interval between the corresponding signal pulses (R,W) and computer (RE) evaluated for accurate parameter (G) referencing. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for shaving cutter, gear cutter, etc. and in paper, textile and steel mfr where rollers of different dia are used. Enables several inter-dependent machine parameters to be accurately quantified for process control in a simple and reliable way.
