At least one of the compression plates (11,12) has a receiver coil (13,14) of the nuclear spin tomograph and at least one of the plates (11) has several holes (15) for insertion of a needle (24). The plates are arranged horizontally so that the patient lies on her side with a breast inserted between them. The compression plate acts as bearer for the receiver coil or the coil and the plate are fitted independently of one another, the coil being above or below the plate. At least one of the compression plates has holes (15) arranged in a regular pattern and is made of a material which does not disturb the picture formation, i.e. plastic. At least one of the compression plates has a marking device comprising a chamber, which is filled with a nuclear spin tomographic detectable substance. USE/ADVANTAGE - For the medical investigation of mammary disorders and abnormalities, esp. of breast. Can be performed when patient is lying on her side.
