The patient laid on a couch (5) in a measurement chamber (4) is examined with a magnetic field under the light of pref. a halogen lamp (12), divided by an optical coupler (13) into two fibre bundles (9,10) leading to outlets (7,8) in the cylindrical wall (6) of the chamber. The lamp is installed in a holder (11) outside and behind the rear wall (3) of the tunnel. Each outlet for the light consists of a woven tissue of optical fibres backed by a reflecting film. ADVANTAGE - Lamp light is bright enough to overcome claustrophobia without dazzle, and its lifetime is not shortened by magnetic field.
