The appts. includes a sample extraction device, an inlet (1) for the extracted material flow and a measurement chamber (2) beneath the inlet in which the material can be compacted. The measurement chamber, which can be closed on all sides, has one wall in the form of a ram (5) connected to an arrangement (6) for measurement of force and/or displacement. A weighing device (12) beneath the measurement chamber weighs the material leaving the chamber. USE/ADVANTAGE - For measuring at least one parameter of a bulk material, e.g. granulometric composition, 'compactability', particle size etc., for process quality control. The method enables full automation of the measurements.
