The belt conveyor is inclined upwards in the direction of belt travel and also tilted transversely. A stream of air is directed on the waste material against the direction of fall resulting from the inclination and tilt of the conveyor, thereby causing the light packaging material to separate out onto the higher side of the belt. Several air jets may be used and set at angles between 90 deg., and 180 to the belt surface measured in a plane approx. normal to the direction of belt travel. The angles of inclination and tilt of the belt are adjustable between 0 and 30 deg.C. USE/ADVANTAGE - Belt conveyor, for sepn. of light packaging, beakers etc. from household waste avoids clogging associated with sieving.
