In a new device for sepg. solid materials of different densities by flotation, the sepn. tank (1) is rounded at the top and bottom and has upper and lower rotating screws and paddles (2,3). Material is fed into the tank from an inlet hopper (4) by a screw conveyor (5). Light material mixed with the sinking heavy material, and heavy material mixed with the floating light material, are released by paddles (6,7). Screws (8,9) convey the sepd. materials into vertical tubes (10,11) in which they are removed from the tank by conveying screws (12,13). USE/ADVANTAGE - For sepg. materials such as chopped plastic waste, used packaging material, scrap electric cables or electronic material etc. A separation efficiency of 99.9% is achieved using a device which is simple and inexpensive and does not occupy a large space.
