The lock has a receiver for a remote control-signal transmitted from a hand-held transmitter, providing corresponding switching commands for the lock mechanism. The lock has a rotary catch (2) cooperating with a closure bolt (3), held in the locked position via a latch (5) and an electric setting drive (14) responding to operation of the door handle to release the latch when a microswitch (12, 13) in its supply circuit is operated by the supplied switching command. Pref a pivot lever (28) can be controlled by the door handle for manual movement of the latch into the released position when the pivot lever is moved from a security position into a working position. ADVANTAGE - Eliminates need for key-operated lock cylinder to reduce number of mechanical parts.
