When the roll rotation in a roll frame deviates from the optimum value, the optimum value is subtracted from the nominal value and then divided by the optimum value. This resultant percentage value is fed to a switch device which feeds this value back to previous roll frames to allow their rotational speeds to be compensated for during the time taken to return the problem roll frames to its optimum rotational speed. Each roll frame has its own switching device which feeds correction values back to previous roll frames, thereby making the correction process a constant process throughout the whole rolling mill. USE/ADVANTAGE - In steel wire and rod rolling. Optimises the correction process without the need for manual interference, thereby ensuring dimensional accuracy of the final product.
