The cable recovery and rewinding system is for a winch used for launching eg. gliders. An endless cable (6) may be used, extending from the winch to the starting position of the aircraft, and passing over pulleys at the ends of its travel. The transport cable (6) carries a ring through which the tow cable (4) passes. This cable has a bar (14) near its end, which engages with the ring. There is a small parachute (8) at the end of the tow cable which breaks its fall after release from the aircraft. USE/ADVANTAGE - Glider launching system with tow cable recovery.
