In order to improve the adaptability of the cable arrangement mechanism of towing winch for cable with different diameter and ensure the arrangement of the cable on the drum. One type of towing electric winch is studied in this paper, the control system of cable arrangement mechanism is designed, and the mathematical model of the speed control system is built based on balance equation, the intelligent PID algorithm is used in the cable arrangement control system for towing winch. The intelligent PID algorithm is compared with the conventional PID algorithm through simulation experiments. The results show the accuracy of the algorithm in this paper, and the control algorithm can be applied to the cable arrangement control system of towing winch.
