The engine has a valve cover (5) and an intake tube (3), and an intermediate chamber (7) between the two, which is open towards the cylinder head (1). Cover and intake tube have a common seal (9) relative to the cylinder head. The seal is formed to insulate sound emanating from the structure. Fastening screws (8) are located on the cylinder head, to fasten valve cover and intake tube. The screws pass through the intermediate chamber, and support themselves on the chamber walls (6,6a) via screw seals (10), which insulate structural sounds. USE/ADVANTAGE - Motor vehicles. Intake air is not subjected to any considerable heating-up.
