Beam coupler for combining laser beams from optical fibres - consists of optic having pyramid with number of sides corresponding to number of beams to be coupled on half of convex lens
Beam coupler for combining laser beams from optical fibres - consists of optic having pyramid with number of sides corresponding to number of beams to be coupled on half of convex lens
The beam coupler consists of an optic in the form of a convex lens cut across its middle plane. A pyramid is centrally formed on the cut face. The number of side faces (2) of the pyramid corresponds to the number of light beams (5) to be coupled. The light beams emerge from optical waveguides or fibres (3). The ends of the optical waveguides lie at the focus of the respective side face. A collimated light beam emerges from the curved surface of the half-convex lens. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for combining several solid state laser sources together to form beam of greater intensity. Compact design.
