Capacitive rotation angle sensor arrangement - has rotor and stator plates carrying electrodes designed for dimensional and positioning tolerance

In the rotation angle sensor, a rotor plate which carries one electrode (1) and a stator plate with more than one electrode (2,3) are movable wrt each other. The circular plates form opposing capacitors. The surfaces of the electrodes are solid within the measurement region, with circular or linear outer edges. The boundaries of the rotor and stator electrodes looking in the peripheral direction from the rotation axis deviate from a radial line emanating from the rotation axis. ADVANTAGE - Tolerant of skewed positioning, flexing and unevenness of electrode carrier, and enables evaluation by simple electronic circuit.
